Mike Eskew serves as chairman and chief executive officer of UPS, the world's largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain services.
Under Eskew's direction, UPS is expanding its capabilities into new lines of business that complement the company's global package delivery operations. UPS is developing increasingly sophisticated solutions for its customers by synchronizing the movement of goods, information and funds. These expanded capabilities include multi-modal transportation services, sophisticated technologies, international trade management, supply chain consulting and financial services.
A native of Vincennes, Ind., Eskew graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business. Eskew began his UPS career in 1972 as an industrial engineering manager in Indiana. His advancement continued in various positions of increasing responsibility including time with UPS's operations in Germany and with UPS Airlines.
In 1994, Eskew was named corporate vice president for industrial engineering. Two years later he became group vice president for engineering. Eskew has served as a member of the UPS Board of Directors since 1998.
In 1999, he was named executive vice president and a year later was given the additional title of vice chairman. Eskew held this position prior to assuming his current role on January 1, 2002.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Eskew is a Trustee of The UPS Foundation and The Annie E. Casey Foundation, which is the country's largest foundation dedicated to disadvantaged youth. In 2003, Eskew was appointed to the President's Export Council and was elected chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council in 2004. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the 3M Corporation and the IBM Board of Directors, and as Chair of the Business Strengthening America's Steering Committee.
Duane Ackerman is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of the BellSouth Corporation.
Mr. Ackerman began his communications career in 1964 and served in numerous capacities with BellSouth. He was named president and chief executive officer of BellSouth Telecommunications, BellSouth's local telephone service unit and largest subsidiary, in November 1992. He was promoted to vice chairman and chief operating officer of the parent company, BellSouth Corporation, on Jan. 1, 1995, then was elevated to the position of president and chief executive officer of BellSouth on Jan. 1, 1997. On Jan. 1, 1998, the Board added the chairman's responsibilities to Mr. Ackerman and he served as chairman and chief executive officer until BellSouth's merger with AT&T on December 29, 2006.
A native of Plant City, Fla., Mr. Ackerman holds a bachelor's degree in physics and a master's degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. He also holds a master's degree in business from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Ackerman is a member of the board of The Allstate Corporation. He also serves on the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and is a trustee of Rollins College. Mr. Ackerman is the immediate past chairman of the national Council on Competitiveness, as well as of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. He is a former member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council and has served on the board of governors for the Society of Sloan Fellows of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was named to the UPS Board of Directors and its Compensation Committee on Aug. 29, 2007.
Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President
Michael J. Burns is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President of the Dana Corporation, one of the world's leading suppliers to the automotive, commercial vehicle, and off-highway vehicle markets.
A native of Monticello, Ind., Mike came to Dana in 2004 from General Motors Corp., where he last served as president of General Motors Europe, a $25 billion division based in Zürich, Switzerland. His 34-year General Motors career included early assignments in operations, engineering, administration, and sales. He later joined the GM Treasurer's Office in New York, N.Y., eventually serving as director of Overseas Financial Analysis. Mike also served in a wide variety of roles with Delphi Electronics, including an assignment in Singapore as operations manager, and a number of additional positions with increasing responsibility. Mike was later named GM vice president for Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems and was subsequently promoted to GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. In 1998, Mike was named president of GM Europe, where he led the coordination of Opel/Vauxhall, Saab, GM Daewoo Europe, and GM's North American vehicle activities in Europe.
Mike earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1975 and a master's degree in Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1979.
Mike is a member of the Board of Trustees of Kettering University. He is also a member of the Business Council, Business Roundtable, National Association of Manufacturers, and Society of Automotive Engineers.
Scott Davis is the chief financial officer of UPS. He is also a member of the UPS Management Committee, which oversees the day-to-day management of the company, and the UPS Board of Directors. As CFO, Davis is responsible for all activities related to accounting, auditing, finance, financial planning, taxes and treasury. He also acts as a liaison to the finance, investor and analyst communities.

A native of Oregon, Davis earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Portland State University. After completing college, he spent several years with Arthur Andersen. Davis also completed an Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business.
Davis joined UPS in 1986 when the company acquired Oregon technology company, II Morrow. He had served as the chief financial officer and then CEO of II Morrow.
Beginning in 1991, Davis held positions of increasing responsibility as treasury manager, financial reports and plans manager and accounting manager.
From late 1998 to early 2000, he served as chief executive officer of Overseas Partners, Ltd., a Bermuda reinsurance company. Davis then rejoined UPS as its vice president of finance. In that position, he was responsible for banking, investments, mergers and acquisitions, tax and investor relations. Davis joined the UPS Management Committee and assumed his current position in 2001.
Davis, a Certified Public Accountant, serves as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and was recently appointed to the Board of Honeywell International, Inc. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Georgia Council on Economic Education.
Head of International Trade and Finance Covington & Burling
Stuart E. Eizenstat heads the international legal practice of Covington & Burling. His work at Covington focuses on international business transactions and regulations and on resolving international trade problems. Mr. Eizenstat has practiced law for twenty years in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia.
Eizenstat held a number of key positions during his decade and a half of government service. From 1977 to 1981, he was President Jimmy Carter's Chief Domestic Policy Adviser and Executive Director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff. With the Clinton Administration, he was Deputy Treasury Secretary, Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs and Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade. He was Ambassador to the European Union from 1993 to 1996.
During the Clinton Administration, Eizenstat had a prominent role in the development of key international initiatives, including the negotiation of the Transatlantic Agenda with the European Union (establishing the framework for the United States' relationship with the EU); the development of the Transatlantic Business Dialogue among European and U.S. CEOs; the negotiation of agreements with the European Union regarding the Helms-Burton Act and the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act; the negotiation of the Japan Port Agreement; and the negotiation of the Kyoto Protocol on global warming.
Eizenstat received his J.D. from Harvard University in 1967. Prior to entering law school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Executive Vice President, Technology Solutions Group, Hewlett-Packard Company
Ann Livermore leads the Technology Solutions Group, which encompasses enterprise storage and systems, software, services, and sales. The products and services from this organization serve Enterprise and Public Sector customers.
Previously, Livermore led the HP Services organization, with 65,000 IT services professionals delivering services to customers in 160 countries. She has been involved with HP's enterprise customers for more than two decades, building customer relationships and IT services capabilities that have become a significant HP competitive differentiator. Livermore joined HP in 1982 and has held a variety of management positions in marketing, sales, research and development, and business management before being elected a corporate vice president in 1995.
Born in Greensboro, N.C., Livermore holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University. In 1997, Livermore was elected to the board of United Parcel Service. Livermore also serves on the board of visitors of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the board of advisors at the Stanford Business School. She is based in Palo Alto, California.

John W. Thompson is chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Symantec Corporation. Under Thompson's leadership, Symantec has grown from a small consumer software publisher to the market leader for security and availability solutions to help customers manage their rapidly growing digital assets. With global operations in more than 40 countries, the company is viewed as a strategic partner to its customers, providing a broad range of security, storage, availability, and performance management solutions to help them proactively manage their IT infrastructure.
Prior to joining Symantec, Thompson was with the IBM Corporation where he held senior executive positions in sales, marketing and software development. Thompson was general manager of IBM Americas and a member of the company's Worldwide Management Council.
Thompson completed his undergraduate studies at Florida A&M University and holds a master's degree in management science from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
In September 2002, President George W. Bush appointed Thompson to the National Infrastructure Advisory Committee to make recommendations regarding the security of the critical infrastructure of the United States. In addition, Thompson has served as the chair of the Silicon Valley Blue Ribbon Task Force on Aviation Security and Technology to identify and evaluate technology-driven solutions to improve the security and efficiency of national and local aviation.
Executive Vice President - Chief Financial Officer, The Home Depot
Carol B. Tomé is executive vice president - chief financial officer of The Home Depot. She is currently responsible for all corporate finance matters including financial reporting, financial planning & analysis, financial operations, divisional finance, internal audit, investor relations, treasury and tax. She joined the company in 1995 as a vice president and treasurer.
Tomé began her career as a commercial lender with United Bank of Denver (now Wells Fargo) and then spent several years as Director of Banking for the Johns-Manville Corporation. Prior to joining The Home Depot, Tomé was vice president and treasurer of Riverwood International Corporation.
A native of Jackson, WY, Tomé holds a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Wyoming and a master's degree in finance from the University of Denver. She is an active volunteer in the Atlanta community, serving as the chair of the Advisory Board of The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, a member of The Committee of 200 and a member of The National Board of Directors for Girls Incorporated. In 2003, Tomé was elected to the UPS Board of Directors, where she chairs the Audit Committee.
Ben Verwaayen was appointed to the BT Board on 14 January 2002 and became Chief Executive on 1 February 2002. He chairs the Operating Committee.
Ben Verwaayen was formerly vice chairman of the management board of Lucent Technologies in the USA from October 1999. He joined Lucent in September 1997 as executive vice president international and became chief operating officer the following month. Prior to joining Lucent, Ben Verwaayen worked for KPN in the Netherlands for nine years as president and managing director of its telecoms subsidiary, PTT Telecom. From 1975 to 1988, he worked for ITT in Europe. He is a member of the advisory council of ING. A Dutch national, he is aged 53.
