United Mileage Plus Visa Cardmembers Earn Double Miles For Tuition, Room, Board, School Supplies, Football Ticket Purchases

WILMINGTON, Del. and CHICAGO - August 23, 2005 - Chase [NYSE: JPM] and United Mileage Plus(R) are now offering a great deal for parents who are getting ready to send their students off to school. As part of the "More Miles" program, United Mileage Plus Visa(R) cardmembers will earn two miles - instead of the regular one mile -- for every dollar spent that exceeds $1,000 and is paid directly to schools through Dec. 31, 2005. This includes tuition for colleges and universities, as well as public and private elementary and secondary schools, school bookstore purchases, season football tickets, school donations and more.

United Mileage Plus Visa cardmembers will also earn extra bonus miles with their back-to-school purchases from select retailers through Sept. 30, 2005, including:

As parents gear up to send their students back to school, they can also reward themselves by earning bonus miles for travel. For example, upon accumulating 25,000 bonus miles, parents can earn a ticket on United, United Express(R) or TedSM to use for a campus visit, flying their student home for a weekend or taking a well-earned vacation.

"We're giving our loyal United Mileage Plus Visa cardmembers a special back-to-school gift this year," said Joe Venuti, senior vice president for Chase's card services division. "Given the rise in credit card payments for school tuition and other school-related purchases, we couldn't pass up this opportunity to reward our cardmembers with double miles for these essential purchases."

"The More Miles program continues to be a hit with our customers because it gives them a quick way to earn travel and be rewarded for their educational investments," said Dennis Cary, senior vice president of marketing for United. "This program also offers consumers who do not travel frequently an alternative way to earn travel for a vacation to some of United's most popular destinations like Australia, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean."

The versatility of the More Miles program offers cardmembers numerous other ways to earn additional miles throughout the year including:
