Over 1.5 Million Online Votes Help 196 Local Charities Receive a Share in $5 Million in the 2012 Chase Community Giving Program

Egyptian Cancer Network Wins $250,000 Top Honor

New York, September 20, 2012 - Chase announced today the winners of the 2012 Chase Community Giving program, a crowd-sourced philanthropy program launched in 2009. 196 charities selected by Facebook users and Chase online customers will receive a share in $5 million in grants from Chase. Winning charities will use the funding for a variety of meaningful causes such as revitalizing communities, supporting the performing arts, finding homes for homeless animals, and raising money and awareness for cancer research.

Chase Community Giving voters selected Boston's Egyptian Cancer Network (ECN) to receive a $250,000 grant from Chase. Over 90,000 votes were cast for ECN, which helps to further cancer education, research, and care as well as medical infrastructure in Egypt.

"The 2012 Chase Community Giving program was an overwhelming success, with over 1.5 million votes cast for participating charities," said Kimberly Davis, President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. "This December, we hope to continue this enthusiasm as we once again celebrate former Chase Community Giving participants on NBC at the second annual American Giving Awards."

In June, Chase customers and employees came together to nominate the nearly 30,000 charities who made up the pool of participants for the 2012 program. All eligible nominated charities had the opportunity to receive an equal share in an additional $2.5 million grant by accepting their nomination by August 30th. The list of charities who will receive an equal share in $2.5 million can be seen on the Chase Community Giving Facebook page.

This is the fifth installment of Chase Community Giving, which has provided a share of more than $20 million to 500 charities in 41 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico since 2009. To date, more than 3.8 million Facebook users have "Liked" the Chase Community Giving page.
