JPMorgan Chase & Co. and The King Center Announce The King Center Imaging Project, an Unprecedented Joint Digitization Initiative

WASHINGTON, D.C., AUGUST 25, 2011 - JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM) and The King Center today announced The King Center Imaging Project, an unprecedented effort to digitize over one million documents from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and other key figures from the Civil Rights movement.

The King Center Imaging Project is a collaboration between JPMorgan Chase and The King Center to archive, preserve and share Dr. King's works. JPMorgan Chase, through its Technology for Social Good program, has committed its technology expertise to digitize more than one million pieces of history related to Dr. King. This unprecedented, innovative project will result in a global educational website based on a comprehensive collection of Dr. King's papers and other audio-visual materials. Along with Dr. King's documents, the Project also includes originals from other key figures and groups involved in the Civil Rights movement. The website will, for the first time, make historical materials such as Dr. King's speeches, sermons and correspondence, readily available to anyone with access to the internet.

The King Center Imaging Project will be showcased at booth #507 at the Partners in the Dream public expo at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The Expo begins on Thursday, August 25 at 3 p.m.

"JPMorgan Chase operates in more than 60 countries around the world and we try to help every community in every way possible," said Jamie Dimon, Chairman & CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co. "Martin Luther King, Jr. is a great figure whose values JPMorgan Chase has espoused through its strong history of promoting advancement through education, equality of opportunity and the gift of service. Dr. King fought for that, in the end with his life, but with great bravery and heroism. We are pleased to lend our support and celebrate his life. Paying tribute to Dr. King is a wonderful thing for a company like JPMorgan Chase to do."

"By providing generous support to digitize the unique holdings of The King Library and Archives, JPMorgan Chase has made an outstanding contribution to my father's legacy for our nation and world. It is gratifying that The King Center's partnership with JPMorgan Chase in the Imaging Project will help make my father's teachings accessible to people of all nations for generations to come. This is truly an invaluable gift to all humanity, and a wonderful resource for fulfilling Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Dream of the Beloved Community," said Martin Luther King, III.

Earlier this year, JPMorgan Chase also contributed $1 million to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, which will be officially dedicated on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Sunday, August 28, 2011, the date that marks the 48th anniversary of the March on Washington. 1,500 JPMorgan Chase employees are expected to attend the unveiling and dedication of the Memorial.
