St. Jude, Chase Give Children Fighting Life-Threatening Diseases an Extra Gift This Holiday Season

Chase to Donate One Percent of Every Card Purchase to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Donate $50 for First Card Purchase

Wilmington, Del. - Dec. 14, 2004 - This holiday season, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, the world's premier pediatric cancer research center, and Chase [NYSE: JPM] will give consumers everywhere a chance to help save the lives of children fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Beginning today, St. Jude Platinum Visa cardmembers will automatically earn a full one percent for St. Jude with every St. Jude Platinum Visa card purchase at no additional cost.

In addition, Chase will automatically donate $50 directly to St. Jude when consumers, who apply for the St. Jude Platinum Visa card at www.stjude.org or at special St. Jude events, use their St. Jude Platinum Visa card for the first time.

Since the card's introduction in 2002, 0.6 percent of every cardmember purchase has been automatically donated to St. Jude, which is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude also pays for lodging, food and travel for patients and their families. Now, one percent of every St. Jude Platinum Visa card purchase will be donated to St. Jude.

"The St. Jude Platinum Visa card gives people a unique opportunity to support the life-saving mission of St. Jude while shopping at the mall or online this holiday season," said Richard C. Shadyac, chief executive officer of ALSAC, the fund-raising arm of St. Jude. "Cardmembers don't need to do anything differently to know that they're going the extra mile for a sick child."

"St. Jude is a very worthy cause that shows compassion toward children and families," said Heather Philp, senior director at JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s card services division. "Chase is proud to support this organization and those it helps to an even greater extent."

Consumers may apply for the St. Jude Platinum Visa card by visiting www.bankone.com/stjude or by calling 800-347-7887.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.
