Dollar General Selects Bessemer, AL for its Tenth Distribution Center

One million-square-foot distribution center will create more than 650 jobs

Ground-breaking celebration slated for May

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dollar General (NYSE: DG) announced today that it will open its tenth distribution center in Bessemer, Ala. The $60 million facility, located on a 106-acre site at Alabama 150 and Lakeshore Parkway, will eventually employ 650 people. A ground-breaking celebration will take place in May at the site.

The new facility is an investment in the continued growth of the community, and the location is a great strategic fit for our company's expansion plans."

The distribution center is expected to open in February 2012 and will serve 500 stores in Alabama and other states.

Dollar General's other distribution centers are located in Kentucky, Oklahoma, Virginia, Mississippi, Missouri, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina and Indiana.

Dollar General currently operates 498 stores in Alabama.
