Dollar General Sells Authentic Colgate Toothpaste, Received Directly From The Manufacturer

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (July 3, 2007) – Customers who purchase Colgate toothpaste at Dollar General stores can be sure that they are getting the bonafide product, sourced directly from the Colgate-Palmolive Company.

Dollar General is not among the discount retailers involved in a recall of counterfeit toothpaste falsely labeled as "Colgate" that was announced in June. The counterfeit toothpaste, which is labeled as manufactured in South Africa and is offered in a 5 ounce (100ml) tube, is not made by Colgate and is not sold in any of Dollar General's 8,000 stores.

"Dollar General has been a valued partner to Colgate-Palmolive for 20 years," said Seamus McBride, President of Colgate-U.S. "Consumers have great confidence in the Colgate brand, and we rely on Dollar General to reach our consumers with the genuine Colgate toothpaste that they trust."

North Bergen, NJ-based MS USA Trading Inc. initiated a recall in June of counterfeit toothpaste falsely labeled as "Colgate" they sold to some independent discount stores.
