Little Rock, Arkansas – March 4, 2003 – Dillard’s, Inc. (DDS-NYSE) (“Dillard’s” or “the Company”) announced the election of former U.S. Congressman J.C. Watts, Jr. to the Company’s board of directors.
Congressman Watts, 45, brings a nationally recognized record of distinctive leadership to Dillard’s board. He represented the State of Oklahoma’s 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives for eight years. In 1998, Congressman Watts was elected Chairman of the House Republican Conference, the fourth highest position in that body. He was unanimously reelected to the position two years later. His congressional service is further marked by many key committee appointments, which include the Armed Services Committee, the Select Homeland Security Committee, the Military Readiness Subcommittee and the Procurement Subcommittee. Congressman Watts also served as Honorary Co-Chairman of the 2000 Republican National Convention.

Congressman Watts currently serves as chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies which provide comprehensive public opinion research, image and brand marketing, issue advocacy and coalition building, diversity consulting, U.S. and international business development and crisis communication management. He and his wife, Frankie, are the parents of five children and currently reside in Norman, Oklahoma. Recently, Congressman Watts has been traveling the country promoting his new book, “What Color is a Conservative? My Life and My Politics.” published by HarperCollins.
