MONTEREY, CA, Aug 08, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) -- Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ: CENX) today announced two changes to the company's operating management team.
Michael F. Tanchuk has been named Vice President and Plant Manager at Nordural ehf, the company's wholly owned subsidiary in Grundartangi, Iceland. Tanchuk replaces Dick Starkweather, who has elected to retire. Mr. Tanchuk has served as Vice President and Plant Manager at Century Aluminum of Kentucky since March 2004. Between 1985 and 2004, Mr. Tanchuk held a number of senior operating positions with Alcoa and Reynolds Metals, including President of the Northwest Region of the Primary Business Unit of Alcoa. Mr. Tanchuk holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University.
Matthew T. Powell has been named to succeed Tanchuk as the Plant Manager at Century Aluminum Company of Kentucky's Hawesville reduction facility. Mr. Powell, who has served as Operations Manager at Hawesville since May 2003, previously held the position of Reduction Manager at Ormet Aluminum Corporation's Hannibal, Ohio reduction facility. Mr. Powell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rio Grande University in Ohio.
