Martin S. Craighead has served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Baker Hughes Incorporated, since May 4, 2009. In this role, Mr. Craighead is responsible for the company's corporate strategy, engineering and technology development, field operations and financial performance across all product lines and geographies.
Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Craighead served as President of the Baker Hughes Drilling & Evaluation Group, which is comprised of Baker Atlas, Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids, Hughes Christensen and INTEQ.
Previously, Mr. Craighead served as President of two Baker Hughes divisionsBaker Atlas and INTEQand he also served as Vice President of Worldwide Operations of the Baker Atlas division from 2003 to 2005.
Mr. Craighead began his career with the company in 1986, and during his 27-year career he has served in numerous engineering, operational and managerial positions throughout North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
Mr. Craighead holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University. His community involvement includes serving on the board of directors of the Southeast Texas chapter of Junior Achievement.
BELGACEM CHARIAG
Vice President and President Eastern Hemisphere Operations
Belgacem Chariag was apointed Baker Hughes Vice President and President Eastern Hemisphere Operations on May 1, 2009. Mr. Chariag started his career in the oilfield in Tunisia in 1987. He joined Schlumberger Limited in 1989 and held a variety of field operations, technical support and management positions in Angola, Tunisia, the UAE and Qatar. He subsequently held global product line business development roles out of Houston, Texas and headed Schlumberger businesses in Egypt, East Africa and East Mediterranean. More recently, Mr. Chariag occupied the position of Marketing Vice President for Europe, Africa and the CIS before being appointed President of Well Services. In his last role with Schlumberger, he was in charge of HS&E, Security, Global Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management and Global Citizenship. Mr. Chariag holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.
Derek Mathieson was named President, Products and Technology on May 4, 2009. Mr. Mathieson joined Baker Hughes in December 2008 from WellDynamics, a provider of intelligent completion technology to the upstream oil industry, where he most recently served as chief executive officer. Prior to this, he led the company's reliability assurance and research and development functions before being appointed vice president of technology, business development and marketing and, in 2007, chief executive officer. Previously, he was employed by Shell UK Exploration & Production in their advanced completion technology group. Earlier in his career, he also worked for Wood Group in the UK. Mr. Mathieson holds a Ph.D. in Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
John A. (Andy) O'Donnell was named President, Western Hemisphere on May 4, 2009. He has held multiple leadership positions within Baker Hughes Incorporated, including President of Baker Petrolite, President of Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids, and as Vice President responsible for the process segment, which was divested in early 2004. Mr. O'Donnell has also managed Project Renaissance, an enterprise-wide cost savings effort, completed in 2001, and also served as Vice President Manufacturing for Baker Oil Tools. He joined Hughes Tool Company in 1975. Mr. O'Donnell served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, and holds a B.S. degree from the University of California, and an M.B.A. degree from Pepperdine University.
Arthur (Art) L. Soucy became Vice President Supply Chain on April 1, 2009. Most recently he was Vice President, Global Supply Chain for Pratt and Whitney, a United Technology Corp. company, and a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, industrial gas turbines and space propulsion systems. Mr. Soucy held a variety of management positions across different business units since beginning with Pratt and Whitney in 1995. From 1982 to 1995, he worked for Hamilton Standard, a United Technology Corp. company, serving in various manufacturing engineering and product development management roles. Mr. Soucy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Master of Business Administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Clifton (Clif) Triplett was named Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Baker Hughes Incorporated on September 29, 2008, reporting to Martin Craighead and David Barr, Group Presidents. Mr. Triplett joined Baker Hughes from Motorola where he served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for their Network and Enterprise Group and most recently as Vice President, Global Services. Prior to that, he held a variety of IT leadership roles with General Motors, Allied Signal and Entergy Services. Mr. Triplett received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and spent the first 10 years of his career in the military, both in the United States and internationally. He also holds a master's degree in computer information systems from Boston University. He also is a member of the Executive Board for the School of Engineering at SMU.
Peter Ragauss, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer joined Baker Hughes in 2006. Most recently, he served as Segment Controller of Refining and Marketing for BP plc in London. Earlier, he was Chief Executive Officer of Air BP, and, assistant to the group chief executive of BP. Prior to joining BP, he served as Vice President of Finance and Portfolio Management for Amoco Energy International, Vice President of Finance for El Paso Energy International and Vice President of Corporate Development for Tenneco Energy. Peter received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Alley Theatre Board of Directors.
Mr. Emerson was named Vice President, Corporate Development in March 2001. Prior to that, Mr. Emerson had served as Director, Business Development for Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations since 1998. He joined Western Atlas, Inc. in 1997 as Director, Corporate Development. Prior to joining Western Atlas, Mr. Emerson held various positions with Halliburton Company from 1982-1997. Mr. Emerson received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Mr. Keifer is Vice President and Controller of the Company and has held that position since July 1999. Mr. Keifer joined Baker Hughes Incorporated in 1990 as the Director of Corporate Audit after several years with Ernst & Young. He holds a B.A. Degree from the University of Iowa and is a Certified Public Accountant.
John Lohman joined Baker Hughes in October 1999 as Vice President, Tax. He is responsible for tax planning and compliance matters for the company. For the six years immediately prior to joining the Company, he was the senior tax executive of Service Corporation International. He began his career in Houston with the public accounting firm, Ernst & Young. He graduated with a BBA in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accounting Taxes from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jan Kees van Gaalen joined Baker Hughes in January 2008 as Vice President and Treasurer. He was employed as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Finance for PT Inco Tbk in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2004 to January 2008. Prior to this, he held a variety of finance positions with Anglo American plc, Carlton Communications plc and Schlumberger Ltd. in France, the United Kingdom Brazil and South Africa. Mr. van Gaalen received his Bachelor degree in economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands and his MBA from the HEC Management School in France.
Alan Crain was named Senior Vice President in 2007. Mr. Crain joined Baker Hughes as Vice President and General Counsel on November 8, 2000. Mr. Crain has broad experience as a corporate legal executive, having served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Crown Cork & Seal Company, and as Vice President and General Counsel for Union Texas Petroleum. Mr. Crain has also held legal positions at Pennzoil and El Paso Energy. Mr. Crain received his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Syracuse University, in addition to M.S. and B.S. degrees in Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Ms. Alford was appointed Corporate Secretary of Baker Hughes in January 2001. Since joining Baker International Corporation in 1981, she has served in a variety of roles in the legal department, including Assistant Corporate Secretary. Ms. Alford attended California State University and Western Illinois University. She is also a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals and the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals.

Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Deputy Counsel
Jay Martin, joined Baker Hughes as vice president, chief compliance officer and senior deputy counsel on July 26, 2004. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Mr. Martin was a shareholder at Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C., partner at Phelps Dunbar and Andrews & Kurth and served as assistant general counsel of Mobil Oil Corporation's Worldwide Exploration and Production Division in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Martin has also served as general counsel of Mobil Natural Gas, Inc., in Houston, Texas. Mr. Martin received his J.D., B.B.A. and M.P.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Didier Charreton, Vice President of Human Resources, joined Baker Hughes in March 2007. Most recently, Mr. Charreton served as Human Resources director for Coats, plc., based in the U.K. Previously he held a variety of positions within Human Resources with Schlumberger Limited in Europe, Latin America and the United States. Mr. Charreton received his business degree from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce of Clermont-Ferrand and a post-graduate degree (DEA Sc de Gestion) from the University of Lyon.
Russ Cancilla was appointed Vice President, HS&E and Security on January 22, 2009. Mr. Cancilla was Chief Security Officer from June 2006 to January 2009. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Mr. Cancilla worked for Innovene as Vice President and Chief Security Officer. Before joining Innovene, he worked at BP as Vice President, Resources & Capabilities for Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) and Vice President, Real Estate and Management Services. In 1991, Russ worked at the White House as the Military Aide (Executive Assistant) to the President of the United States. This was followed by his appointment as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the US & Foreign Commercial Service, US Department of Commerce. Mr. Cancilla holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and a Graduate degree in Operations Management. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Executive Program at Quantico, VA.
Paul S. Butero was named President, U.S. Land, on May 4, 2009. Previously he has served as President of the INTEQ, Baker Atlas and Hughes Christensen product lines. Mr. Butero joined Baker Hughes in 1981 and has served in a number of operations roles in the United States and the Eastern Hemisphere before becoming Vice President of Marketing for Hughes Christensen in 2000. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Nelson Ney, 44, was appointed President, Latin America on May 4, 2009. Previously he was Vice President and President of Centrilift since December 2007. He joined Baker Hughes as Marketing Manager in Colombia in 1991. Since then he has held a variety of operations, technical and management positions in Latin America, the Europe, Africa, Russia and Caspian region, and the U.S., with Centrilift and Hughes Christensen. Before that he served as an operations engineer for Occidental Petroleum, also in Colombia. Mr. Ney holds a Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Vice President - Reservoir Technology & Consulting
Dr. D. Nathan Meehan has more than 30 years of global experience in reservoir engineering, reserve estimation, hydraulic fracturing and horizontal well production. Previously he served as president of CMG Petroleum Consulting, an independent consultancy firm providing petroleum engineering services to major, independent and national oil companies, and oilfield service companies; Vice President of Engineering for Occidental Oil & Gas; and General Manager Exploration & Production Services for Union Pacific Resources. Dr. Meehan earned his BSc degree in Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology, his MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and his PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University. Dr. Meehan previously served as Chairman of the Board of the CMG Reservoir Simulation Foundation and a Director of the Computer Modelling Group, Ltd., as Director of Vanyoganeft Oil Company, Nizhnyvartosk, Russia, as Director of Pinnacle Technologies, Inc. and as a Director of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is the recipient of the Lester C. Uren Award for Distinguished Achievement in Petroleum Engineering and the Degolyer Distinguished Service Medal from the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Maria Claudia Borras was named Vice President, Global Marketing, for Baker Hughes on May 4, 2009. Prior to her recent appointment, she served as Vice President, Marketing and Technical Services, for Baker Hughes Centrilift, beginning in June 2007. Ms. Borras joined Baker Hughes in 1994 and over the course of her career has leveraged her broad expertise in marketing, operations and engineering to drive Baker Hughes' growth. From 1994 to 2000, she held positions of increasing responsibility in Colombia, eventually becoming Centrilift Country Manager. In 2003 she was named Latin America West Regional Manager for Centrilift and two years later was promoted to Latin America North Area Manager. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Ms. Borras worked for Petrobras, Occidental de Colombia and Esso Colombia as a petroleum engineer. She holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from America University in Colombia, a finance degree from Andes University in Colombia and an executive certificate in international marketing from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Dmitry Kuzovenkov was named President of Baker Hughes' Russia & Caspian region on May 4, 2009.
Dmitry has 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He joined Schlumberger in Russia in 1995. He first held a variety of field operations, technical support and management positions in Russia, Vietnam and the USA. He subsequently headed Schlumberger Well Services businesses in Egypt, East Africa and East Mediterranean and held a global product line business development role out of Paris, France.
During his career with Baker Hughes, he occupied the position of Director Sales and Business Development before being appointed Vice President, Drilling & Evaluation in Russia in 2008. Dmitry holds an engineer degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State Academy of Oil and Gas named after Gubkin as well as an MBA degree from the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Alasdair Shiach was named President, Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids on May 4, 2009. Previously he was Vice President, Marketing, for Drilling Fluids since July 2007. Mr. Shiach began his career with Baker Hughes in 1990, in the Hughes Christensen division, and has worked in more than 10 countries in management roles spanning marketing, sales and operations. He has served approximately 50 customers including major national oil companies and independent oil companies in the North America, EARC and MEAP regions. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Mr. Shiach worked in Europe, Middle East and Africa for the Security Division of Dresser Industries from 1978 to 1990. He holds a BA Degree in Business Studies from Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology (now Robert Gordon's University), Aberdeen, Scotland.
Tom Thissen was named President of Baker Hughes' Africa region on May, 4 2009. Previously he was Vice President, Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids of the EARC region since 2007. During his tenure at Baker Hughes, Mr. Thissen has held a number of management and operations positions in Caspian, Central Europe, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Oman. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He holds a B.Sc. in Drilling & Production Engineering from Noorder Haaks in the Netherlands.
Bob Bennett was named President, Baker Oil Tools on May 4, 2009. Previously he was Vice President, North America Operations for Baker Oil Tools since February 2008. Mr. Bennett has more than 25 years experience in technical and commercial operations, having served in management roles in technology, marketing and operations in Europe, Africa, FSU and North America. He has served as Vice President of Technology at Hughes Christensen and Baker Oil Tools. He is a member of the Society for Petroleum Engineers. Mr. Bennett holds a BSc. in Civil Engineering and a MSc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, UK.
John V. Kenner was named President, Centrilift on May 4, 2009. Mr. Kenner joined Baker Hughes in 1991 and has since held positions in operations, marketing and engineering in the United States and Asia for Hughes Christensen and Centrilift. His most recent positions at Centrilift include Vice President of North America Operations, Vice President of Marketing, and Vice President of Technology. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Mr. Kenner worked for LTV Aerospace in systems reliability and design. Mr. Kenner holds a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University, an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas, and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
Michael Sanders joined Baker Hughes in March 2009 as Vice President, Technology Portfolio Management. In this role, he is responsible for creating cross-product line technology solutions, prioritizing technology and R&D needs, identifying new technologies, providing enterprise level technology support and accelerating the product development cycle. Prior to this role, Mr. Sanders was VP Engineering at Unison Industries LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric Company, where he worked for six years. Prior to joining Unison, he was a GE Aviation Engineering Department Six Sigma Black Belt and Electrical Systems Engineering Manager. Before that, Mr. Sanders worked for BMW Rolls-Royce in Berlin, Germany as a Manager for Controls Unit engineering, and he began his career as a design engineer for fuel/hydraulic systems with The Boeing Company. He is certified as a professional engineer in the state of Ohio and is a certified GE Six Sigma Black Belt. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., and his Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Dayton in Ohio.
Pat Marfone was named President, Baker Petrolite on May 4, 2009. Previously he was Vice President Downstream Business Units since 2005. He has more than 34 years experience in industrial chemicals, process and water treatment for downstream applications, and chemical engineering, with extensive background in refining processes, including hydrotreating, hydrocracking, catalytic reforming, hydrogen production, sulfuric acid alkylation, crude processing and waste water treatment. Previous positions held were various process engineering positions with Exxon Company USA and sales management with ARCO Chemical Company. He is a director of the NPRA and a member of the American Chemistry Council and AIChE. Mr. Marfone graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from University of Pennsylvania in 1974.
Rudy Meyer was named Vice President, Western Hemisphere HS&E on May 4, 2009. He began his career with Baker Hughes in 2001, and held various engineering and marketing responsibilities, including Product Line Manager for Cased Hole Services, Latin America Region of Baker Oil Tools and District Manager for Baker Oil Tools in Colombia. Prior to that, beginning in 1996, he was a sales and service engineer with Parko Services in Colombia. Rudy is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Fundacion Universidad de America in Bogota, Colombia.
Richard Ward was named President of Baker Hughes' Asia Pacific region on May 4, 2009. Previously, he was the MEAP Region Vice President for Baker Oil Tools since June 2007. Mr. Ward joined Baker Hughes in 1991, and has a strong background in financial business management, operations, business development, sales & marketing, Integrated Operations, large account management of NOCs and IOCs, and drilling engineering & geological interpretation. He has broad international experience, having lived and worked in the Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific and US regions for Baker Hughes INTEQ, Hughes Christensen, Integrated Operations, Corporate Marketing and Baker Oil Tools Divisions. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology from London University.
Nicholas ('Nick') Beeson was appointed Vice President, Eastern Hemisphere HS&E on May 4, 2009. He began his career with Baker Atlas in 1991 and has held operational and sales management positions in Malaysia, Nigeria, Norway and the United Kingdom. Most recently Nick held the position of Vice President North America Operations for Baker Atlas. A British national, he holds a bachelors degree in Natural Sciences (Geological) from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
Richard Williams was named President, U.S. Gulf Coast on May 4, 2009. Previously he served as President of Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids since May 2005. During his nearly 30 years with Baker Hughes, Richard has been Vice President of Operations for Baker Oil Tools and INTEQ and brings strong global leadership to his new position.
Gary Rich was named President, Europe on May 4, 2009. Previously, he served as President of Hughes Christensen since September 2006. Mr. Rich has worked for Baker Hughes for 19 years in both INTEQ and Hughes Christensen, serving in a variety of operations, marketing and strategic roles. Gary received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University and a M.S. in Science and Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas.
Wil Faubel was named Vice President, Global Account Management on May 4, 2009. Previously he was Vice President of Enterprise Marketing since September 2006. Mr. Faubel's career with Baker Hughes began in July 1977. He has served the company in a variety of management roles including President of both Centrilift and Baker Atlas. Prior to that, he worked for 24 years at Hughes Christensen in domestic and international marketing regions. He is a member of International Association of Drilling Contractors, Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Drilling Engineers, and Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association. Mr. Faubel holds a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Methodist University.
Stephen K. Ellison was named President, Drilling & Formation Evaluation on May 4, 2009. He previously served as President of Baker Atlas, and prior to that, Vice President for the Middle East Asia Pacific Region since April 2005. Mr. Ellison joined the Company as a Wireline Logging Engineer in 1979 after completing his B.A. (Honors) degree in Physics from Oxford University, England. His career subsequently developed through a number of Operational, Technical and General Management positions across the company's businesses in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Ms. Caravello was appointed HS&E director for Baker Hughes Incorporated and HS&E vice president for Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations, in August 2004. Prior to this appointment, she served as senior director, HS&E/Quality and Regulatory Affairs and general manager of the Crop Protection Chemicals Group for Baker Petrolite. She joined Baker Hughes (Baker Performance Chemicals) in 1987 as a Senior Product Specialist in the Biotechnology Group of the R&D Department. Ms. Caravello holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.S. degree in Biology/Ecology, from the University of Houston. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Leadership and Organizational Change at Walden University.
Mike Davis was named President of Baker Hughes Canada on May 4, 2009. Previously he was President, Baker Hughes Russia since September 2006. Mr. Davis began his career with Hughes Tool Company in 1976, and has broad operations, sales, marketing, manufacturing and general management experience including regional management of Hughes Christensen in the Middle East, Australasia, Far East, Southeast Asia and West Africa regions. Mr. Davis attended Texas Tech University.
Mr. Flaharty was appointed director, investor relations in January 1997. Before then he served as director, market research and corporate information. He joined the Baker Oil Tools division in 1981. Mr. Flaharty holds B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.B.A., all from the University of Houston.
Mr. Shiels was appointed Assistant Director of Investor Relations in April of 2004. Before then he served as Assistant Treasurer of Baker Hughes. He joined Baker Hughes in 1998. Mr. Shiels holds a BBA in Finance and Accounting from Southern Methodist University.
