Ted Schulte Named President - Airgas Refrigerants;
Martin Wehner Named President - Airgas Specialty Products

RADNOR, PA - September 19, 2011 - Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG) today announced that Ted R. Schulte has been named president - Airgas Refrigerants, reporting to Andrew R. Cichocki, Airgas senior vice president - distribution operations and business process improvement. Martin Wehner has been named president - Airgas Specialty Products.

Airgas Refrigerants is a full-service refrigerant gases supply and reclamation company with approximately 100 employees nationwide. Airgas Specialty Products is a leading supplier of industrial ammonia and diesel exhaust fluid with more than 200 employees across the country.

Schulte joined Airgas in 1997 as president of Airgas Carbonic, before becoming vice president of Airgas gas operations in 1998. He became senior vice president in 2000 and division president in 2003. Prior to joining Airgas, Schulte served as senior vice president of Energetic Solutions, the U.S. subsidiary of ICI Explosives, and vice president of industrial gas sales of Arcadian Corporation.

"Throughout his career at Airgas, Ted has been instrumental in helping us expand a number of strategic product lines," said Cichocki. "He began by leading our liquid carbon dioxide and dry ice business, and then led our Airgas Specialty Gases operations. Ted helped expand our medical business with the Puritan Medical Products acquisition in 2000, and then in 2005 he assisted in the creation of Airgas Specialty Products, which added our platform for distributing ammonia, refrigerants and process chemicals."

Wehner, who has served as vice president of sales for Airgas Specialty Products since joining Airgas in 2005, has more than twenty years of experience in the ammonia industry and has held a variety of positions in sales, operations and technical service. He began his career as a process engineer with U.S. Steel in 1981 and moved to U.S. Steel's agri-chemical division in 1982. Wehner joined LaRoche Industries in 1986 when LaRoche purchased the U.S. Steel agri-chemical division. He progressed through a series of sales, sales management, technical service, and distribution management positions with LaRoche through 1999. Following LaRoche's divestiture of its Alumina division to UOP, a Honeywell company, Wehner served as Business Manager of UOP's Zeolites division until he joined Airgas in 2005. Wehner holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from California State University - Fullerton. He also currently serves on the board of directors of the Ammonia Safety Training Institute (ASTI).

"Marty's promotion to president of Airgas Specialty Products is well earned," Cichocki continued. "His significant ammonia industry experience, in technical service and in operations, and his accomplishments as vice president of sales will serve him very well in his new position."
